Continuing with my early listing of I have never thought of this but sounds good anyway songs. Now, from number 11 to 15:

11 - Brother by ALICE IN CHAINS
from EP Sap, 1992

ALICE IN CHAINS, those guys that spawned Man In The Box and We Die Young in 1990. They was simply no room for delicateness and melancholy amidst the furious rush of their rough Heavy Metal diamonds. But, fortunately, there was much more to ALICE IN CHAINS than the debut could have revealed. And they started unveiling their haunting melodicism in the acoustic EP Sap, filled with moody bleakouts like this very track. Essential!

12 - Any DAVID BOWIE song, from time to time
at least between 1971 and 1984

DAVID BOWIE, the one and only Rock N Roll chameleon! He switched music genres so often (and with such prowess) his career could be taken as an encapsulation of this beloved genre! Too bad he lately opted for Pop superstardom!

13 - Let s Go To Bed by THE CURE
from EP Japanese Whispers, 1984

After reaching the deepest pits of bleakness and disturbing melancholy in their previous records Faith and Pornography, THE CURE finds some inner peace, fun and romance in this striking release during an 1984 Japanese tour. The very thing is not that they have simply dramatically changed their sound - they have ever done so, from record to record. The key change was the decision to drag the underpinning malevolence of their songs out of the water, favoring accessibility and softer approaches. Fantastic!

14 - Cowboys from Hell by PANTERA
from album Cowboys from Hell, 1990

Before 1990 PANTERA used to release records named I Am The Night , Metal Magic . They were a disposable glam-poser-hair-metal band. One of that plagues that sunk mid to late 80 s. Then, all of a sudden, they incorporated manic singer Phil Anselmo in their ranks. And Diamond Darrell decided to take his sonic hammer on guitars to full effect (changing his own name to Dimebag Darrell). Then...the best Heavy Metal band of the 90 s was born! Peerless riffing and killer harmonies. This is what this is all about!

15 - Hitchin a Ride by GREEN DAY
from album Nimrod, 1997

GREEN DAY never intended to be more than an efficient, 4X4 Punk Rock band with inspired riffing and choruses. And they succeed to unimaginable levels with their monster Dookie release of 1994. But even more was to come from their ranks - not only the famous power ballad Good Riddance, but they surpasses everything with this odd number Hitchin a Ride, equal parts their typical style and STRAY CATS (Brian Setzer!). A triumph in daring irony!

There s still parts 4 and 5 to come! See ya!
