About:Robert Montgomery

Appointed chief executive officer of CareerBuilder in March 2002, Bob Montgomery leads the daily operations of the business and supports CareerBuilder s newspaper partners to extend the market reach of CareerBuilder products.

From 1999 to 2001, Montgomery served as chief executive officer of HeadHunter.net until it was acquired by CareerBuilder in November 2001. During his tenure, HeadHunter revenues grew from less than $1 million to an estimated $50+ million in 2001. He led the company through its initial public offering in August 1999, and helped it achieve profitability just 18 months later, in the first quarter of 2001. Prior to becoming chief executive officer, Montgomery sat on HeadHunter s board of directors, representing ITC Holding Co., a telecommunications and investment firm that has launched, funded and operated dozens of successful communications and Internet-related businesses.

Prior to HeadHunter, he was a vice president of ITC Holding Co. where he helped execute and operate company s investments from 1999 to 2000.

In 1991, Montgomery founded InterCall, Inc., a conference services provider. As chief executive officer and president, he led the company as it became the most profitable privately held conference service company in the world, with over 1200 employees in 18 cities and the United Kingdom. He also served on InterCall s board of directors.

In 1989, Montgomery founded a teleconferencing division of Telecom USA. As president he led operations up until the company was acquired by MCI in 1990 and then joined MCI Teleconferencing as president until 1991.

From 1986-1989, Montgomery was a district manager and vice president of sales at Async Corporation, a voice mail company initially funded by ITC and later acquired by Telecom USA in 1989.

Early in his career, he held a variety of sales positions for Lanier Business Products and Sperry Corporation.

Montgomery holds a bachelor s degree from Vanderbilt University. He is a board member of eCompanyStore, a provider of online promotional and corporate identity products for large corporations. Montgomery serves as a board member of the Noble Street Charter High School in Chicago, which he helped fund. He also served as a board member at the Northwestern University Settlement House in Chicago from 1996-1999. He is a member of Young Presidents Organization.
